The Sanitation and Water Knowledge management and Learning Alliance Uganda (SAWA) is the new name for the Water and Sanitation Resource Centre in Uganda and it is a Alliance of organisations ( Water Aid, NETWAS, UWASNET and URWA).These partner organizations have a vested interest in impovement of information and knowledge generation and dissemination to all water and sanitation sector players.

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene National Learning Forum in Uganda -Tentative dates; 12 & 13 October 2009 (23 Sep 09)

This National Learning Forum is being jointly organised by the GoU (DWD, DWRM, MoH-EHU, MoES), the Uganda WASH Resource Centre, SNV and IRC. (See Concept Note). At the National Learning Forum space will be given to the following subject areas:
•Experiences on IWRM implementation at the local scale (Localisation of IWRM principles)
•‘Good’ (and bad) practices/experiences on operation and maintenance of water supply systems
•Cases on how sanitation for family health and prosperity is practised
•Experiences on WASH in schools.
The two-day Forum will attract some 60-80 participants including case study presenters, government staff from national and local level, international and local NGOs, UNICEF, WSP, knowledge institutions, academia and the media.

Second Sanitation Annual Learning Event 2008 (09 Mar 09)

The National Sanitation Working Group (NSWG) planned for its second annual learning event for its members, local Governments and Technical support units as part of its 2008 interventions.
The objectives of 2008 NLE
The overall objective of the 2008 NLE was to facilitate the enhanced learning and sharing of information on sustainable sanitation and hygiene. Specifically the objectives were:
Share the concept, development, best practice and initiatives on CLTS and its application to communities in the Ugandan context.
Raise awareness of stakeholders in sanitation and hygiene on the importance of learning and sharing information among sector organizations and individuals at all levels.
Appreciate the importance of scaling-up sanitation and hygiene initiatives, including learning and sharing, for the wider WATSAN sector
Consolidate the main findings and lessons learnt by Plan (U) in view of scaling up best approaches and practices related to Sanitation and Hygiene promotion.

Learning for Policy and Practice in Sanitation & Hygiene (San&Hyg), or LeaPPS, is a joint initiative of IRC Int. Water and Sanitation Centre and Uganda partners SNV and NETWAS to contribute to district and sub-district enhancement of San&Hyg sector performance. This initiative has been running for a year in four districts, Kyenjojo, Kamwenge, Arua and Koboko, with the involvement of two sub-counties in each district. The content focus is San&Hyg at household/community level and primary schools. The overall aim is to generate more cost-efficient and effective San&Hyg programmes and sustainable facilities and behaviours
