Gender inequalities help to explain the low demand for sanitation in many communities. Evidence from many countries suggests that women place a higher value on access to private sanitation facilities than do men.
Social development activities are varied and over and above time have been implemented in segments by various players like Health, Education, Water /National Resources, NGOs and Civil Society organizations. But with an array of economic reforms initiated and implemented by Government in the last decade, sectors started getting focused to develop strategic investments like Education Strategic Investment Plan, Health Sector Strategic Investment Plan, and Water Sector Investment Plan e.t.c. This left Ministry of Gender, Labor & Social Development with no option but to develop the social Development Sector Strategic Plan, (SDIP)
